    Re: For-profit grants

If not initiated by securing a commercial loan, most new small businesses are financed by putting up your savings, hitting up your friends and family for loans, or taking in partners that share in the expenses and profits and risk. Your SBA can help you develop a good business plan, perhaps provide you with legal advice and risk management advice, and maybe even help you develop some marketing pieces. They very likely cannot get you an unsecured loan & certainly not a grant. Finding a grant to start a for-profit venture isn't like finding a needle in a haystack; it's like finding a needle in a ACRE of haystacks. You don't want to waste your time on such a long shot. & Please don't be taken in by any of the predators out there that will take your money and tell you they can find you grant money; they're all scam artists.
