| Forgot to mention that you MUST be registered in PA.

You mentioned being in Philly, but I still forgot to add how important it is for you to register with the PA Bureau of Charitable Organizations as a professional fundraising consultant. If a nonprofit contracts with you when you are not registered with the regulating body, both you AND the nonprofit can be subject to fines. Likewise a copy of each contract must be filed with the Bureau and you must have their certificate of approval in hand before any proposals you prepare for that client are mailed out. Hopefully you knew this, but I know when I started my firm that I had no idea of the laws governing grantwriting consultants. There is a $250 annual registration fee, and you want to be sure and read the Bureau rules regarding how contracts must be worded so that your contract template will be compliant with their required wording. Search online for the required forms.
