| Grants for 501(c) advocating for People with Mental Disabilities??
Posted by vecrhite371 on 2/16/2011, 9:51 am
Hello Board, I am a Graduate Extern at Vision for EQuality, Inc., a registered 501 (c) organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania committed to providing advocacy and services-accountability to Pennsylvanians with mental disabilities (mostly mental retardation) living in the community or at provider facilities. We are looking to secure a grant intended for nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting and advocating for the rights of people with mental disabilities. We have been exploring FederalGrantsWire.com, the official site for federal grants and loans, but to no avail. Would any of you recommend any federal contacts in specific departments and offices, or any databases, other than FederalGrantsWire, to aid us in locating an appropriate grant? I tend to get very bizarre results when I use FederalGrantsWire: Federally Recognized Trbies Extension Program? Multi-state Mentoring Initiative? Afro-Columbian and Indigenous Program -- and this is using the keyword "Mental Disability." Is there an easier way of going about this? Also, our organization is NOT a research organizaton. We do independent monitoring for quality and advocacy-related work. We do not have an age group, a race, or a gender we help in particular. It's more a broad-based program. Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated! Sincerely, Jared Kornblatt
