    Non-profit 501(c)(3) seeks financial advice

Posted by pcfoundation on 10/22/2010, 11:56 am

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this question.

My wife & I have operated a non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization since 1999. We have created several film festival events through the foundation for many years which cater to high school & college film students.

We work closely with the local colleges & their film programs. After our local film industry died, we had the idea to start producing films, employing the film students so they have the opportunity to learn their craft while paying some of their outrageous college bills.

Is this a viable plan? Through some grant research, I have found that even film grants don't support film production. Some allow documentaries, but these future filmmakers have no interest in docs. These are creative fiction filmmakers that dream of being the next Speilberg.

If this is a viable plan, does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking for financing for production?

    Thanks in advance!!
