Opinions on Grant Professional Certified (GPC) Credential

    Posted by MoRed4 on 6/22/2010, 8:04 pm

I am hoping to get some opinions on the the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) professional credential offered by the Grant Professionals Certification Institute in conjunction with the American Association of Grant Professionals. I've done my research and know that this is more than a certificate of completion - it's a legitimate professional credential that must be maintained over time.

I am planning on taking the test to become credentialed in about a month, but I am having second thoughts. The cost of the test is $400, plus about $400 in travel costs, which is a lot for me at the moment (although I realized this could be a good investment in my career).

I am interested in your thoughts on whether or not this is something worthwhile. Do potential employers / clients care if you passed a test...or are they more interested in work samples, references, employment history, training, etc.

    Thanks for your thoughts!!

    Sara
