I will echo Karen's comments, thanking you for your
commitment to improve the lives of others. Philanthropy in its truest form is just as you seek it--valuing human service in deed & dollar. We need both!
Two broad Christian organizations serving world health and hunger are:
Compassion International
and
World Vision
Both allow for and encourage hands-on assistance and interaction. I know several persons who have gone and worked to build, teach and interact. If you are further interested, contact me off-line and I can provide their names and email/phone for more personal representation of their experiences.
