| Endowment Fund-Raising Questions
Posted by Tony Poderis on 9/4/2009, 9:50 am VIP Poster
Dear PNDTalkers: Endowment fund-raising is a special, widely-spaced, effort which an organization raises to invest, rather than spend. Unlike fund-raising campaigns for the Annual Fund, Capital needs, and to pay for special programs, projects, and services, endowment campaigns have several unique characteristics. Along with my article in general about endowment campaigns, posted on my website several years ago, I have kept track of the number of times I have been asked additional endowment campaign-related questions. Over the years, I have answered those questions personally, on an individual basis. The most frequently asked questions have been: (1) How much endowment is “right” for our organization? (2) How do we set an endowment campaign goal? (3) What should we do when it comes to the application of our endowment funds principal and income to our operation’s expenses? If you have those questions in mind, you are invited to visit my website and read: --- Endowment Funds Go On Forever --- An Endowment Campaign Should Not http://www.raise-funds.com/1099forum.html Note at the top of the page the three newly-added links to the Addendum to the article. There, I have attempted to answer the questions cited above. I hope the information will be helpful to you. (Should you have your own opinions, you are welcome to air them via PND Talk so as to engage us all.)
