| Re: Presenting grant writer services

Gerry: Linda gave her success process for getting clients. She should know. She is one of the best. It’s what you asked for in the second part of your posting. But, looking at the beginning of your note, where you have interviewed with potential clients, and you gave them presentations offering your services, you further tell us that you did not make the “closings” with them, though they seemed interested. They do not “sign on the dotted line.” Why is that so? Surely you have been told by some why they would not engage your services. When there are turndowns by potential clients, they do not always tell us exactly why we were not accepted. However, at times they do tell us. If not, quite often, at a later time, we have occasion to hear from someone at the organization who will tell us exactly why we were not hired. Most of the times I did not win after making my presentations, I had fairly clear feedback, either then, or later, regarding why I was not selected. We need to know why in your case. Otherwise, the turndown trend may well continue if you do not know why they say no. Tell us too about how you do wind down your presentations and the reactions you feel or directly get from the interviewers. Maybe then we can help.
