Many of us in the 50+ age bracket remain employed for access to group health coverage because private insurance is unavailable either because of cost or, in my case, because I made the "mistake" of having cancer when I was 28, giving me a "pre-existing condition". A buy-out with no health coverage is like a shot glass of water in the middle of the Sahara.
