I couldn't agree with you more! I am reminded of this when speaking with potential clients...I must often judge from answers to pointed questions the level of feasibility an organization might have for receiving grant awards. It wouldn't make any difference if I had written proposals for $500 or $5,000,000 in my career if the organization asking was not in a sound position to receive awards.
You and I both know that it is often a 'fatal flaw' that tips the scales. No matter how skilled a writer might be, the decision would not rest on prose or verbal structure, but on reasonable fundraising plans, board involvement, community service niche and one-hundred other things.
Thank you for your well-developed response, as it addresses far more than just 'to provide or not provide' the requested materials.
