| Re: Letters of support?

Consider doing what some nonprofits do for busy or VIP people who want to support them. The np drafts the individualized support letter, the validating organization reads it and nods or edits (and signs) and out it goes. Badda-bim, badda-boom. Of course, it's great when a supporter agrees to and quickly writes a great letter, but that can't always be and it's OK to remind or suggest draft ideas. Worst: Enthusiastic supporter (or their boss) writes a ho-hum generic letter not mentioning your unique whiz-bang project, initiative or approach. Impolitic to ask for more juice in the letter. Now if you want to really consider influence, the right phone call, or verbal endorsement at an event, at the right time with the right funder contact person can have sometimes have greater impact. Example: the church's Clerk or Administrator or Pastor may sign the support letter. But what if the most influential person for that funder is J. Smith, an elder with the church who runs the largest health care corporation in town? Get J. to sign a letter or make a call?
