| Re: Letters of support?
Posted by Julie Rodda on 3/12/2009, 5:29 pm, in reply to "Letters of support?" VIP Poster
There is a distinct difference between "letters of support" and "letters of collaboration". Hopefully this will help with understanding the use of Letters of Support (those from community constituents validating the value of your organization to the community) and Letters of Collaboration (showing specific support/buy-in to the program and documenting it's value). Letters of Support come alongside and speak to the value of the proposed project for the community or clients (end recipients). They are typically garnered from community representatives, or another organization serving similar clients who can speak well on your behalf in a factual way. Letters of Collaboration are those provided by organizations who are partnering to bring the proposed project to fruition. The intent of this letter is to verify to the prospective funder that the collaborative organization is in agreement with what you have projected, and is validating partnership claims. Thus it will state something like: "We at organization XYZ are fully committed to providing use of our 1,000 sq.ft. multipurpose community room and supportive facilities 4 nights weekly to organization ABC on behalf of their proposed project. The use of this room will be offered 4 nights x 10 weeks as an in-kind donation valued at $x,xxx". We are please to be able to support this project towards it's goal of serving yyy number of people in our community with life-enriching education".
