We all will need to work harder and drill down further in research. We will need to talk up relevant past grantees of the top funders we do want to support us - to gain access to standoffish funders. We will need to focus more on renewable sources of support: individuals. We will need more than ever to focus on building relationships and leveraging past funders to access new funders (that they know). We will need to consider whether we partner, merge or fold with, into, other more substantial organizations. We will need to examine more how essential are the services we provide, the outcomes we produce or could start to produce, and communicate those even better. We will need to examine if "fiscally sponsored" program or model are viable in more competitive times. We may need to advocate for multi year funding (it can save the funder some costs!) and inform funders more about the annual or grant cycle merry-go-round. Progress and plans don't always conform to a funding round. So much to do. May we live in interesting times.
