| Re: New Not for Profit: Is it possible to obtain funding at the outset?

I'll cut to the chase: there are many nonprofits working in civic engagement in India. Why this new one? Why not partner with an existing nonprofit or NGO (and its established credibility and funded overhead)? Why not a sister, adjunct, demo, or innovative project or program launch, affiliated with an existing, successful group? If you're successful, you can consider weaning the project onto independence and sustainability. Before an institution gives to a new nonprofit, it is good to see that some individuals or smaller groups (aid association, Indian business circles) believe in and give to that nonprofit. Hope you have that or the potential for it, early. Getting a grant or grants from scratch, with no inside track to funding, and maybe no very compelling or recognized (well publicized or documented) case made? Tough to do. Best wishes.
