Carl: In referencing your response, I will note you are correct...but so are others. It sounds as if our 'poster' either has an over-zealous ED or that this person is merely uninformed of what access the grant writer needs to information...Either that, or they have encountered a trust issue that must be addressed. My personal experience has been the same as Rex below, in that grants (especially State & Federal) must list how much you are requesting for salary, fringe and benefits. This is an actual dollar amount, not a range of x-z. I have never seen a grant request list a range of what might be utilized for this expenditure...it must tally up at the bottom down to the penny. I will also note that when you request copies of federal or state applications which have been approved, typically this information is removed, especially where specific names are listed...thus pointing to confidentiality.
