I've arranged a meeting with the Executive Director and the Dir. of Dev. for tomorrow morning.

I plan on bringing an agenda listing out the advice I am receiving here, as well as the information I am gathering from my research in books and other websites.

No one's name or agency will be conveyed; I just wanted to assure you of your privacy. As always, you all are extremely professional with your comments/guidance/observations. Truly the elite reside here!

Finally, whether by post or email, if there are any additional comments, words of wisdom, etc. you feel compelled to share, please know I will greatly appreciate your time! (Thank you for the email I already received, your words of wisdom are invaluable!)

My goal at this point, is to advise my client of the situation. My gut instinct is definitely correct and I feel we are headed down a dismal path.

This will not be shocking to my client. They have been unhappy and unsure of what to do for a few months now. However, they have nothing to compare this to for reassurance in their doubts. The ED has asked me to step up in my "role" and take on more of a leadership position. He knows I do not have experience with such a large effort, but he also trusts my integrity. He knows without a doubt I truly have their best interest at the forefront of my every action.

My client has a 45+ year history in this community which has been entirely self-sustained. They have never entered into fund-raising endeavors. The closest activity is an affiliate program they began a few years ago in which people contribute to a fund which goes directly to supplement the needs of the residents not covered in any other way.

Even the Affiliates program is not a concerted fund-raising endeavor; moreover it is an established venue for those who express desire to help in some way.

I tell you all, this is truly mind blowing to find ourselves in this situation. I know my experience does not qualify me to be in a leadership position with this capital campaign. However, I also know I cannot step away and leave them in the middle of this endeavor.

My recommendation tomorrow morning is going to include cutting ties with this agency and seeking out a trusted expert to be our capital campaign consultant. We simply can't fall backwards now.

There is a meeting late next week with a potentially large donor. The first days of next week for me are in a three-day grant writing seminar. I plan to use those three days to work and hone a proposal for this donor. They do not have a "grant" program, but ask for a "detailed letter" for our proposal.

Again, let me thank you in advance for any additional advice. The time you have already given is appreciated deeply!

Blessings to each of you! Catherine

P.S. On top of all else, I had previously booked our vacation for this week!! We are in the middle of our family vacation...LOLOL - I can only laugh at this turn of events at this point! For an additional slap in the face, the hotel we were in for the last three days was experiencing "difficults with our internet availability"!! We are on our day at home to do laundry, recuperate and prepare to head back out Thursday.

I can only Praise the Lord I had scheduled in Wednesday at home. With all of this unfolding as it is, I am able to meet with my client while I'm here.
