Like you, J.K. Rowling is a very talented writer. Had J.K. Rowling dealt with her own life as a single "welfare mother", she would, most probably, still be one. However, she used her imagination and facility with language in creating her little wizard, encouraging millions of children to read, and establishing a multi-billion dollar "Harry Potter" industry.
Find others who share your experience so that you have a support network and sense of community. (Thanks to the internet, this is easier today than it was decades ago.) Patient support groups helped me retain what was left of my sanity, at the time! Become involved with their search for alternatives. You may find both friendship and a future?
Trust me, it does get better, not much better, maybe, but better.
