I also develop an access database for my larger clients that lists the donor, their interest/purpose, potential request amount, priority, due date, next activity/who, submit date and comments. This gives us a bird's eye view of opportunities.
For active requests, I keep an separate paper file as well as a computer file. After a year, I keep only the computer file.
