| Re: Partners

Donaldo: Questions which will be put forth from serious foundations are: Who are your board members? What are their professional affiliations? What is your organizations mission? How effective has your organization been (at carrying out it's mission)? What is the board's commitment to the project you have described? (meaning, what is their buy in financially) As you can see, an organization "on paper only" will not meet the standards required. Your company really needs to be seeking investors/venture capitalists for seed money if they want to develop this research, not grants, unless they intend to fully develop the non-profit side and have it pass muster. That will take time as well. As exciting as the grant market/grant training seminars appear, what they often do not mention is that less than 1:20 grants applied for are ever funded...in part due to the fact that many are applying for grants without researching funders requirements, and want to see if what they "throw at the wall will stick". This is a tremendous disservice to all parties, as it closes more funder's doors annually to an open application process, and drives many foundations to give only to preselected non-profits. I am truly sorry your job is tied to this endeavor...as I do not anticipate a happy ending in sight.
