Interesting that you bring up fund-raising for schools. In NE Illinois, I am seeing more and more public school districts and private schools hiring development directors. A few wealthier districts have been able to raise enough in private money to do without federal funds and accompanying NCLB benchmarks. I don't know what schools are doing in your area, but you might investigate your earlier alma maters to learn if they are seeking grants and would consider hiring an alumnus.
