Actually, I use the term 'grant proposal developer.' I try to stay away from the word 'writer' because what we do is so much more than writing. That is only 20% of it. The other 80% is research, planning, etc. And many times people who consider themselves good writers think they could automatically and immediately develop grant proposals. The quality of the writing helps but is not really the most important thing in getting proposals funded. The American Association of Grant Professionals uses the term 'grant professional,' although it refers to grant managers, as well. All that said, it's still true that the only way anybody else can understand what the heck you're saying is to say you're a grant writer . But at least we can use more accurate terms among ourselves.... Sheryl
