I would like some general advice in acknowledging contributions. I am stepping in to an organization that has sent out end-of-year receipts but generally not responded at the time the checks roll in (!). I am sending out immediate and hand-written thank-you notes. I'm thinking that the end-of-year receipt is still a good reminder of the organization, but I'm wondering if this more formal acknowledgment is required and whether most of you advise both responses.
