I cannot help you with the software you mention, but I have found that there is a common problem people in our field encounter when creating calendars of deadlines. The problem is that some foundations require that proposals should be submitted perhaps a month or more before the published deadline and unless this is noted in your data base, some deadlines can be missed.
When this is the case, I usually mark the deadline with an asterisk and make a notation. For example,if the published deadline is December 30, my note reads, "submit by November 1." As a practice, I usually advise my clients to submit at least a month before the deadline and sometimes earlier.
