| Re: NPO Work - time to give up?

Linda, Thank you. Many great points in this thread, and I am so appreciative of all contributions. Honestly, it never entered my mind to walk away from an NPO if they are not grant-ready. My mindset, at the time, was that I would help them get to that point so I can write a proposal. I guess that was my desperation speaking. I figured there may not be any other way to get to that point. Your lesson helps me see that this is of detriment to my pursuits. Ah, hindsight. The DV NPO I volunteered for was SURELY grant ready. They have raised $8 million in a capital campaign to renovate a building for transitional housing. Unfortunately, the ED vetoed my pursuits to get involved in proposal writing. She actually did that with the DD there as well. The contracted grant writer didn't want me to do any of that work because, I assume, if I was successful he might be out of a $150/hour gig. I have to conclude that my lack of opportunity there had nothing to do with me. It was completely out of my hands. Thanks again.
