Rose: Thank you for taking the time to respond...What that tells me is you have a level of courtesy and follow-through that will serve you well, whatever your employment choices may be. Since time is so short until the beginning of a new year, and you are not totally dependent on this financial support, do take the time to consider things very carefully. In reference to hourly, weekly, monthly fee structure issues, I found Linda Procoppio's information from a previous post quite helpful, and very sensible. She noted [basically] that she does not charge hourly rates which are oh-so-difficult to track at times, and only contracts for a yearly representation (which may be terminated by either party with 2 weeks written notice. This helps ensure that you will be professional in your approach and handling of client as well as a reciprocating professionalism from your client). She further notes that since this is understood to be a year-long endeavor, she estimates approximate number of grant proposals which will be submitted (or in your case, grants/events/newsletters, etc.) hours involved, costs incurred, and then asks for 20% down and the rest divided into monthly installments for the remaining 12 month period. This provides a solid monthly obligation will be, and removes confusion for all parties. I highly recommend you utilize the search function at the top of the message board to review Linda's full comments, as she explains her business model and "satisfaction guarantee", which I also have incorporated with a strong measure of not only success, but respect. It truly just makes sense. Best wishes to you in your endeavors.
