Rose,
Not only does having diverse experience improve your employability, it also adds variety to your work day, once you are in the job. Coordinating a 5K run or a golf outing gets you out of the office and into sunlight and fresh air. Planning dinners affords an excuse to get dressed up and meet new people. (I still have a photo of me with a super-model celebrity spokesperson!) By comparison, grant proposal writing is boring!
