| Re: NPO Work - time to give up?

Julie, Great advice and feedback. You are absolutely right that I chose to be walked on/taken advantage of. I know that you didn't phrase it that way (thank you!), but I get it. You're right. I appreciate your verbage regarding my dedication (and compensation) with an NPO. I printed it out. I'm really borderline about donating services. I'm not wealthy by any means. I think we "could" (maybe?) afford my doing strictly volunteer work. On the other hand, we've got two kids in college. We've just taken out an equity loan to cover tuitions. And it's a little weird because if I secure employment before year's end, our financial aid qualifications are greatly compromised. That is not something we cannot afford. But, darn it! I want to earn my own money. I'm not looking for a full-time, $80,000/yr job. But I'd really like to bring in (for myself) a decent $300/week. And I do want to feel like I make a difference. That's why I have been so interested in working for NPO's. I think I have a great deal to offer them. Just not for free. My timing is odd, though. I found a job posting from the very town where I live. It is not a NPO, but I feel like it is something I am well-qualified for. I am definitely going to submit my resume. I still prefer the non-profit thing. On some levels, though, this might be what I am looking for.
