My good friend, Carter McNamara, the force behind the "Free Management Library," has a full array of "Evaluation Activities in Organizations on his website at: http://www.managementhelp.org/evaluatn/evaluatn.htm It appears you are looking for assessment tools for more of an approach to overall management and organization. For what it is worth, I have two items on my website which deal with assessments of the Board and Development staff when it comes to fund-raising. --- Development Department Staff/Department Assessment http://www.raise-funds.com/exhibits/exhibit43.html http://www.raise-funds.com/exhibits/exhibit43.pdf When it comes to the Board Members' self-evaluation, the following self-assessment checklist is suggested regarding how each member of a non-profit organization’s board of trustees could privately and confidentially perform a useful and instructive assessment of their respective governance activities and objectives. This trustee self-assessment process features trustee-responsibility affirmations which could be an important way for the trustee to see where major strengths and major weaknesses are to be found, thus being in a better position to address and correct where there are deficiencies. (Score 1-5 with 5 the highest score) As a Trustee of (name of organization), I do: ___ Actively participate in carrying out the organization’s mission. ___ Attend trustees’ meetings and initiate and participate in discussions. ___ Provide leadership and involvement to at least one standing committee (development, finance, marketing, nominating, etc.), and attend its meetings and take part in its activities. ___ Contribute funds for annual operations and special programs with commitments perceived to be at or near the top of my capability to give. ___ Support the fund-raising programs and initiatives with as much one-to-one solicitation activity as possible. ___ Prioritize my organization as highly as possible to my memberships in other non-profit organizations. ___ Initiate other helpful advice and counsel to help meet and exceed my organization’s objectives and goals. ___ Promote and present a positive endorsement and attitude to the community-at-large regarding my organization. ___ Serve, knowing that I have the prime responsibility for contributing and raising funds since those responsibilities cannot, and should not, be the responsibility of the organization’s staff. Maybe some of this will help.
