Linda,What can I say, I always felt better when I did everything myself and succeeded. When I was in the business, my proposals were my "calling cards", so much so, that my national headquarters assigned me to present workshops on the subject for our chapter offices.
You are correct about your integrity being important to retaining clients. I guess that I encountered too many "hired guns" who didn't share your moral compass.
I think that writing proposals, like any other aspect of development work, can provide an opportunity for staff development. I learned from a former boss, adding foundation relations to my knowledge base and making me a more valuable professional.
