philly, As has been said many times before, a diverse experience base and a solid track record are much more valuable than an academic degree. You are better off acquiring varied experiences in the not-for-profit field than spending time and money on a degree. When I was in not-for-profit work, I earned an MPA, and did not believe it helped me gain any additional consideration in employment interviews. Ironically, when I decided to change careers and enter teaching, I went back for an MAT and learned that I had credentialed myself out of an entry level but tenure-track teaching position.
