Participating in Marathons for a charity

Anyone have any experience recruiting people to participate in a marathon for your charity? I have participated as a runner before and thought it might be an interesting way for the organization I work for to raise funds. Just curious as to who you used for your electronic donation system for the runners. Thanks, Hayley
