| Site visit advice needed
Posted by Gwen on 5/5/2006, 12:44 pm
Hi everyone, I am looking for advice on conducting a site visit. We have 2 hours for the representatives and would like advice on what to include, not include, etc. The grant proposal is for operating expenses for staff. I am wondering how much of this time should be spent on programs, how we fundraise, meeting board members and others involved in the organization. We do have a basic outline of how we are going to use the time wisely. Our organization uses 9 different locations for programs that provide opportunities to underpriviledged kids and the handicappped. We timed the "tour" of the locations, along with a map so they will know where we are during the tour, and it takes up a full hour. We are starting at a Teen Center for a potluck lunch, so meet and greet with the organizations board, and others will be about 30-45 minutes. We are planning to have newspaper articles available from the past 3 years of our growth, programs, that kind of info in print if they want to take that with. We plan on the last 10-15 minutes to wrap up any questions. To me it still seems like an overload, like the tour itself taking a full hour. Our programs aren't even running until June, so that almost seems like a waste of time. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Gwen
