Judy, Would that most people in leadership positions have your wisdom and common sense. Too often, boards listen to consultants or conduct focus groups which tell them what they want to hear rather than cold hard reality. I directed the development program of the youth center run by a park district that did just that, only to learn that it had invested $1 million in seed money for a teen center that the community was unwilling to sustain and that the kids didn't want in the first place. After only four years, the teen center closed. A lesson I learned through experience, when "truth" conflicts with minds that are already made up, truth invariably loses. Just look at the Iraq War!
