| Re: Funds for equipment

I think Laura has the right idea, seeking funds is like hunting, you kind of have to look at who would benefit and why someone would care about that. It isn't always foundations, but people that care about the museum (or whatever mission you seek for) Talk to some people involved to get ideas, sometimes you can also appeal to a personal donation, through board members for example, they have a different set of people in their realm of influence. You may find the person who would fully fund it. There are more ways to "skin a cat" than just writing proposals to foundations. As an added thought, has the museum ever done any fundraising for new equipment before? If you come up empty handed in the grant, can a special fundraising project be done instead? I work with a young nonprofit and we consider every way in funding. I am just saying that if the grant seeking brings nothing, have a backup plan in place. Good luck!! Gwen
