    school board seed money

Posted by Judy on 2/16/2006, 4:25 pm

Our school board is starting a foundation for the schools, however, three of the committee chairs for the foundation are also voting school board members. The foundation is asking for the school board to put down $750,000 in seed money to raise $3M. An unsecured loan.

Only one board member has donated, and the one other one said why should I donate, it is for the schools? Exactly, and what makes you think others are going to donate if you don't even believe in it?

How can this be ethical? They want to use tax payer dollars. Shouldn't this come from private donations?
