In a former job, I had the opportunity to work with a diecutter and that estimate sounds about right. It can be a useful tool in cutting letters and shapes. As far as grants, I would concur that you should search for foundations that fund equipement. I would suggest that you develop a good case for how this equipment will impact your musuem and its mission. You need to make a good and clear case for the equipment.
