| Re: hiring a professional fundraising consultant

Thanks to all for such thoughtful and excellent suggestions. Years of monitoring this board assured me that I could expect nothing less from a fine group of professionals. Unfortunately the most appropriate path of board training and negotiating a change in the structure of the state relationship to the 4-H center is likely not going to take place. Those suggestions had already been made when I turned to this group. Basically, this campaign strategy was the board deciding on a goal amount based on the cost of the project, they split the amount between multiple counties and gave each extension agent in each county a goal figure they had to be responsible for meeting. It was really a horrible strategy that placed a huge burden on people who already carry heavy work loads and do not necessarily have any experience or expertise in fund-raising. Your help is greatly appreciated and I have passed it on to those who need it. The director of the center is an extremely competent, conscientous person with great skills and a good staff. She will take this comprehensive information and, with her staff, get the most out of all of it, I am sure. Thanks so much for your help. Tony, I love your web site and visit it often!
