    While they are unable to fund all the requests they receive, they do fund some, of course. So you want to know how you can get your project to rise to the top of their pile and be one of the chosen few. Asking how you can improve for next time is the right way to go. And don't forget to thank them for having considered your request and for giving you feedback on the proposal. Listen, don't argue or be defensive, and take notes. You are doing the right thing.
