It's not being nosy to ask to see the financials. You need to be able to show how the grant-funded project fits within the overall organizational budget, and to defend and clarify that position in a grant narrative. Your biggest challenge in requesting Capacity Building grant funding to hire staff will be to support in your proposal narrative that this organization can financially sustain the new staff position once the grant funding is gone. You need a solid understanding of their financials to do this. Otherwise you are just going through the motions and have very little chance of success with this proposal.
