After speaking with you tonight and now reading your post, I just want you to know how much my heart is breaking for you and Lisa. I know well how such devastating news can literally make you crumble and I just want you to know that you don't have to go through this alone. Everyone here understands your pain and we want to help in anyway we can.
I know that you can't come to the meeting this month but if you feel like talking between now and then, please know that you can call us.
Your Jimmy sounds like such a wonderful guy and when you said you used to take him on long haul trips with you, I could understand how close and devoted the two of you were to each other. I will be anxious to see a picture of your beautiful boy in the near future!
You mentioned feeling guilty but from everything you have told me, you were a great dad to Jimmy and sadly, we are only human and as much as we would like to be able to protect our furbabies from everything, we cannot. I have no magic words or solutions to take away your pain but I will pray that with time, your memories of Jimmy will first of all be all the good, happy times when he made you laugh and not how things have been since June. Just keep reaching out and talking to people who understand that wonderful, unconditional love that we have with our pets. Talk about Jimmy with them and with us - we never get tired of hearing about this wonderful little souls!
