Hi Lynda,
I am sorry to hear about what you are going through with your precious Kati. While I am not fully familiar with the condition you mentioned, I looked it up and got some basic information about it. I think the most important thing to keep in mind here is what is in Kati's best interests. You know your little girl better than anyone else and you are the only one who can make the decision about when it is time to let her go. I think it's important to consider whether Kati is in pain and what her quality of life is like. If you feel that she can still comfortably share more time with you, than you should cherish the remaining time you have together. The worst part is that you may never be able to completely know when the time is right. I know when I had my dog Rocky put to sleep that I lived with the "what-if's" for so long afterwards. I agree with you that it is an extremely painful thing to experience but it is also the most selfless thing we could do for those dear animals who have given us so many years of unconditional love and companionship.
I wish that I could be more helpful with this situation but this is something you will have to listen to your heart about. You will know when it is time. Please know that we are here if you ever need to talk. I will be thinking of you and your precious Kati... Keep us updated on how things are going.
Stephanie
