My dear Terry,
I was thinking about you all day today.
I know you know this, in your heart, but if it helps at all, I will certainly say again that you did the right thing. Your precious baby girl had no way of telling you in words that it was ok for you to let her go. She simply had to trust that in the days following her passing, you would remember her healthy, and know that she was not going to be able to have days of quality anymore. These darling animals come into our hearts for such a brief time, but while they are with us, the love they share with us is so pure and true. How could we really do anything less than love them the same way? And sadly, that sometimes means having to make decisions that hurt us the most.
I know in the early days, that there is very little comfort to be found, other than the very fleeting kind.
And that's where your girl comes in. I do believe that she was letting you know that she was ok. I have read so many posts and stories from people who believe that they have had "signs". And I'm a believer.
Your girl wanted you to know that she is not gone from your heart, or your memories. And I consider myself fairly fluent in "cat speak", so I would hazard a guess that what you heard was probably an "I love you guys, and I'm ok. Love you!"
As always, if you need me, I am here.
Take care of yourselves, you and Bill and your Mom. It's easy to forget that we need to stay well ourselves. If we don't, how would we be able to carry on and share the memories that will bring us such joy in the days to come?!
Hugs,
Laurien
