Hi Louanne,
I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your precious Zoey. My heart broke for you reading that post. I can only imagine how hard a decision it was to say goodbye to your sweet girl but even though you may not believe it now, Zoey is very grateful you were able to put her needs first. It sounds like it came on pretty suddenly so I am sure you are still in shock over the whole thing. On the positive side, you were able to be there with your baby when she needed you the most and you were able to ensure that she was free from the pain she was experiencing. Hopefully the memories of all those wonderful years you spent with Zoey will bring you comfort in the difficult days and weeks to come. It is normal to feel completely lost right now without her because she was a faithful companion for so long and now there is an empty space. The only thing I can say is: Don't rush the grieving process. Do not feel like you should rush to get rid of all traces of Zoey. When I had to say goodbye to my dog Rocky I left the blanket that he slept on in the same spot for a while afterwards. It just helped me to feel like he wasn't completely gone. Leave your memories of Zoey until the point of when or if you feel ready to move them. There is no harm in that. How are your kids coping? Even though it was difficult, I think in the long run they will be glad that they were able to say goodbye to Zoey. Know that we are here if you ever need to talk.
Thinking of you and your family and your precious Zoey.
Stephanie
