Hi Sue,
I am so happy to hear that you have been doing better in the last few days. I had a feeling that getting Sarah's ashes back would be a big help... I know it was for me. It just kind of gives you that feeling of being connected again. Sarah's urn sounds like it is lovely. It's amazing how they can be so beautiful. My boy Rocky's urn is like a little piece of art in my living room.
I think the decision about whether to bury Sarah's ashes in your backyard or to keep the urn in your house is going to be a really personal decision that you'll have to make. On the one hand, burying her in the backyard in one of her favourite spots could be a nice gesture and you're right that they have really amazing markers that you can get for the spot. On the other hand, if you get rid of all of Sarah's other items, having the urn in your house might give you that extra comfort. My best advice would be to think about it, but don't rush your decision. And as for having her bed still in your living room, I completely understand that. I kept the blanket that Rocky slept on in the living room for a while after he died so that I didn't have to erase the mark he left on my life immediately. And I also kept all of Rocky's other things as well- his bowls, leash, collar. I have all those things in a box put away but I still talk to Rocky's urn all the time. I feel like having him in the living room just kind of makes me feel like he's still part of the family and everyday life.
Thanks for letting us know how you are doing! We're always here if you want to keep us updated on how things are going. And if you want to come to a meeting sometime, we'd love to hear more about your dear little girl.
Take care Sue!
Stephanie
