Dear Pam,
I am so glad that you are getting to see your darling Cuddles in better spirits.
It is so sad to know that her time is limited...there really is no way to prepare for the end. But, when the time comes, you will know that you are doing the right thing for her. You will be able to say those "I love yous", and create more memories for you to hold onto after she is gone.
I am hoping that you are able to take your girl home with you, but am wishing you much strength if you are not able to bring her home.
And Pam? There is no such thing as "babbling" on this board! You take as many words, as many posts, as it takes for you to ease your grief. That's why we're here, because we all understand the unique grief, the immeasurable loss, that comes with losing a beloved furbaby.
Your other cat sounds like he is also sensing somthing isn't quite right in his world. If it helps any, I also had two cats. When my first cat, Poubelle passed in his sleep, I was very worried about his companion Chaussette. Poubelle came into our house first, and Chaussette had never lived without him. I was really concerned that she wouldn't know how to function without him. In the first few days after we lost Poubelle, Chaussette did wander about the house crying for him, but we showered her with love and affection (which helped us too!) and it really did seem to help.
Gradually, we all learned how to be a one cat (and one dog) household. Chaussette has grown to enjoy her role as an "only cat", and we know that Poubelle is proud of her for being able to step into the role of boss of my house! It has been more than 2 years now since my Poub went to the Rainbow Bridge, and Chaussette is still going strong. Chaussette was also never really a cuddler, but since Poubelle has been gone, she has turned into quite the lap cat. It's funny how our animals really seem to know what it is that their people need.
So, Pam, I will end this here for now.
Keep us posted.
I'll be thinking of you,
Laurien
