Yesterday, my brother Dan and his kids had to say goodbye to their beloved kitty, Chester. Chester had had a long hard battle and Dan had to make the most difficult decision he would ever have to make to set his dear little "keeeeee" free, to be at peace, and no longer in pain.
Chester has been Dan's sidekick for about 14 years and I know how much Dan loved him and how much Chester loved Dan. They were the best of buds!
Today we had a pet loss support group meeting here in Mississauga and I had wished that my brother could have been there. In his absence, I shared his story with the people there and also mentioned that Dan had said that he could feel Chester's spirit rising as he left this world and with it, that heavy agony Dan had felt all week went with it. Knowing that Chester was at peace and in a good place, brought alot of comfort to Dan.
I suspect there will still be days when Dan and his kids are on an emotional rollercoaster and I just want them to know that I will always, always be here if they need to talk, to cry, to remember.
Play with the other furangels, Chester. We will always love you and hold you dear in our hearts. Such a special, special little guy.
