Dear Catherine,
The anniversaries are never easy days. Certainly a time when we remember, and reflect on all that has changed since we lost a loved one.
In the early days, the pain is so intense that it makes it difficult to imagine that time does indeed keep marching on.
Sounds like your house is full of love and new companions...how wonderful for you!
Sammy would be so pleased to see that you are happy!
I like to think that our babies who have gone on ahead of us take some credit for teaching us how to love another pet properly! I imagine them up at the Rainbow Bridge feeling pretty proud of themselves as they watch over us.
"See that lady down there? That's my lady, and she's a good person to own. Any animals that live in that house are very lucky to have her. I taught her well!"
Just my thoughts on the matter!
Catherine, I'm glad to hear from you. We share anniversaries that are pretty close together.
I'm glad to hear that you are doing well these days.
The ache of the loss never completely disappears, I don't think, but rather becomes a bearable one. And the memories do turn into joyful ones, and are such a nice way to show that we haven't forgotten.
I know you miss Sammy, Catherine. I am thinking of you.
Laurien
