My heart truly goes out to you and your son on this tragic, tragic accident.
Unfortunately, there are no magic words that will bring your son immediate comfort; however, if you can keep telling him that it was an accident - and that he would never have done anything intentionally to harm Toby, that might help a little. If you and your son are in the GTA and would like to talk, please don't hesitate to contact us. If you are out of the area, we can try to find a pet loss support group close to you. We do have monthly meetings as well and being able to talk about his feelings, may be a help to him.
If you click on the link below, there is a wonderful article about loss and guilt and if he reads it and follows some of the suggestions there, that may help too.
If there is anything we can do to help your son and you through this tragic time, please let us know.
