That is indeed the case. Once the train crosses, it will stop at the Soo Michigan yard office. The crew will put the two locomotives together at the head end of the train. Then a new crew will get on board and highball west.
On the eastbound/north into Canada trip, the locomotives are split, the trailing unit is up to half way back in the train, all the way from Gladstone into Canada.
