UP and Agawa Canyon

I have always wanted to ride the Agawa Canyon train, and this week we finally had a chance to do so. Train was about nine cars, with an F-40 on each end. Great trip. Not a lot of evidence of online freight action in the 114 miles (228 mile round trip). A long string of coil steel cars (storage?) in a siding at about milepost 57. Two pulpwood loading sites, one small with two loaded cars, one much larger but no cars present. That was it. Hearst passenger train has been discontinued, as has the AC Snow Train. One train per day (runs at night) on the former AC, according to onboard staff person. In Soo Michigan we saw two AC dome cars parked on the site of the former yard complex. The Canadian bound train passed through at about 8:00 p.m. most evenings, with one unit up front and a DPU. I don't know what time the westbound counterparts ran.
